Can Kaliningrad Connect Poland to Mainland Russia in Travle?
Russia can use its Kaliningrad connection when it is a supplied endpoint: Russia → Germany finished with Poland alone. As an intermediate guess from Poland to China, Russia alone did not finish; Belarus supplied the missing mainland connection.

Test 1: Russia is the start, Germany is the destination
In official World Practice, choose Russia → Germany, Normal mode, Unlimited Guesses and no excluded countries. Enter Poland.

The result is 1 guess, with a shortest solution of 1. We reproduced this on 2 October 2026 in English. Russia's Kaliningrad area can provide the Polish connection when Russia is the supplied endpoint. The country selector uses Russia; we did not select a separate “Kaliningrad” option.
Test 2: Russia is an intermediate guess
Now choose Poland → People's Republic of China with the same settings. Enter Russia first.

The history displays ✅, but the game remains active at Guess (2/?) and mainland Russia is gray. A connected part of Russia does not create a continuous trip from Kaliningrad to the mainland. Even a green check is not proof that the whole endpoint-to-endpoint route is complete.
Enter Belarus to supply the missing mainland connection.

The result confirms 2 guesses, with a minimum of 2. The continuous route is Poland → Belarus → Russia → China. We deliberately entered Russia before Belarus to expose the gap; Practice reports the total and minimum without a Perfect label.
The rule behind both results
Travle tracks separate land areas within a country. Kaliningrad is not a teleport to mainland Russia. An endpoint can use a relevant area, while traveling through Russia must still form a continuous journey to the exit area. That is why “Russia never connects to Poland” is too broad, and “Russia links Poland straight to China” is wrong for the tested intermediate-country route.
For another puzzle, inspect the supplied endpoints, exclusions and connected areas. Belarus works in this unrestricted example; it is not mandatory or permitted in every route. The Spain–Morocco test shows why an endpoint exception must not be copied indiscriminately to another country.
